Henderson Hospital sits at 1050 W. Galleria Drive near the I-515/US-95 and Galleria interchange in Green Valley, and St. Rose Dominican’s Siena campus is at 3001 St. Rose Parkway in the southeastern part of the city near Anthem. The I-515/US-95 corridor connects Henderson to Las Vegas in about 15–20 minutes, but afternoon rush on I-515 between Russell Road and the I-15/US-95 Split can easily double that — and the I-215 beltway around the south side bogs down near Green Valley Parkway during school pickup. If you’re coming from Inspirada or the far south side, St. Rose Parkway and Eastern Avenue are your reliable alternates when the freeways jam up. The Henderson Multimodal Center on Water Street anchors the old downtown, and the River Mountain Loop Trail and Pittman Wash Trail are where Henderson moms go for flat, paved third-trimester walks — especially the section near Cornerstone Park with shade and water fountains. Green Valley Ranch, Anthem, MacDonald Highlands, and Inspirada are the neighborhoods where you’ll find most young families.

How it works
What Doula & Midwife Support Looks Like in Henderson
Not sure what the difference is?
A midwife is your medical provider: she can deliver your baby, write prescriptions, and monitor your health. A doula is your support person: she keeps you comfortable, informed, and emotionally held, but doesn't do medical tasks. You can have both, and many Henderson moms do. Learn more about what a doula actually does →
Henderson is the second-largest city in Nevada and a fast-growing suburb of Las Vegas, with young families drawn to master-planned communities like Green Valley, Anthem, and Inspirada. Birth options here are hospital-dominant — there are no freestanding birth centers in the Henderson area, and the doula community, while growing, is smaller than in comparably sized metros. Nevada’s 2023 passage of SB 392 adding Medicaid doula coverage is a recent win that’s still rolling out, and it’s changing the access landscape for families who need it most.
Continuous labor support
A doula stays with you from early labor through delivery. No shift changes, no leaving the room.
Evidence-based comfort techniques
Breathing, counter-pressure, position changes, proven to reduce C-section rates and shorten labor.
Advocacy before and during birth
Your doula helps you understand your options and practice saying what you want, before you're in the delivery room.
Postpartum follow-up, too
Most Henderson doula packages include at least one postpartum visit, because birth support doesn't end at delivery.
Whether this is your first baby or you're preparing for a VBAC, understanding what a doula does, and how a doula can change your birth experience, can help you decide what support is right for you. Planning for a specific scenario? Read our VBAC birth plan guide or our C-section birth plan template.

Can My Doula Come to the Hospital With Me in Henderson?
This is one of the top questions Henderson moms ask, and the answer matters. Most hospitals in the Henderson area do allow doulas, and many have explicit policies supporting continuous doula support during labor. Post-COVID visitor restrictions have mostly lifted, and hospitals generally recognize that doulas are not visitors: they're part of your care team.
That said, it's smart to call your hospital before labor starts and ask directly about their doula policy. Some questions to ask:
- "How many support people can I have in the delivery room?"
- "Does your hospital have a written doula policy I can review?"
- "Are doulas counted as visitors or as part of my care team?"
- "Is there a limit on support people during a C-section?"
Your doula will also know the policies at Henderson hospitals and can help you navigate any hoops. And if your hospital pushes back, your birth plan gives you a written document that shows you've thought this through. grab the free template here.

Henderson Hospital
Henderson Hospital (Valley Health System), at 1050 W. Galleria Drive, opened in 2016 and operates a Level III NICU with 24/7 obstetric hospitalist coverage, private LDRP rooms, lactation consultants, and couplet care (rooming-in). It’s the newer of Henderson’s two main birth hospitals and a direct competitor to St. Rose Siena for the local maternity market. St. Rose Dominican – Siena Campus
St. Rose Dominican – Siena Campus (Dignity Health/CommonSpirit Health), at 3001 St. Rose Parkway in southeast Henderson, is one of the busiest maternity hospitals in the Las Vegas Valley with a Level III NICU, a dedicated women’s and children’s tower, 24/7 OB hospitalist coverage, lactation services, and childbirth education classes. The Siena campus has the more established NICU and maternity program of the two St. Rose campuses. Doulas are generally welcome — confirm visitor policy during your hospital tour. Use our free hospital birth plan template so your team has something specific to work from.

St. Rose Dominican – San Martin Campus
St. Rose Dominican – San Martin Campus (Dignity Health/CommonSpirit Health), at 8290 W. Warm Springs Road in Las Vegas near the Henderson border, has a Level II NICU (Special Care Nursery) for moderately ill or premature infants. More complex neonatal cases transfer to Siena or another Level III facility. It offers LDRP suites, 24/7 OB coverage, and lactation support. If you’re in southwest Henderson or the Mountains Edge area, San Martin may be your closest option — but know that the Level II NICU means the most fragile newborns get transferred elsewhere. How Much Does a Doula Cost in Henderson?
In the Henderson area, birth doula packages typically range from $1,000 to $3,000. That usually includes prenatal visits, your birth, and postpartum follow-up. See our full doula cost breakdown for what's included and what to ask about. If you're also thinking about support after baby arrives, learn what a postpartum doula does and how one can help.
If that number feels steep, you're not alone, and there are options:
- Medicaid: Good news: your state covers doula services through Medicaid. See the details below.
- HSA/FSA: Many families don't realize that doula services can often be paid for with HSA or FSA funds, since birth support qualifies as a medical expense under most plans. Check with your plan administrator.
- Sliding-scale doulas: Many Henderson doulas offer payment plans, sliding-scale fees, or reduced packages. Don't be afraid to ask.
- Student doulas: Doulas in training often attend births at reduced rates. It's a great option if budget is tight.
Does Medicaid or Insurance Cover a Doula in NV?
Yes — Nevada Medicaid covers doula services as of 2024, following the passage of SB 392 in 2023. Nevada Medicaid and Nevada Check Up (CHIP) enrollees are eligible for prenatal, labor/delivery, and postpartum doula visits. Doulas must enroll as Nevada Medicaid providers to receive reimbursement. The Medicaid reimbursement rate for the full doula birth support package is approximately $600–$900. A physician or licensed provider referral is typically required. Contact Nevada Medicaid at 1-800-525-9529 or visit dhcfp.nv.gov to confirm your coverage and find enrolled doulas.
Whether doula services are partially covered varies by plan in the Henderson area. The Culinary Health Fund — covering many hospitality workers in the Las Vegas Valley — covers midwifery and hospital maternity care but doula coverage is not a standard benefit; contact the fund directly to verify. For other private insurers, check whether your plan covers out-of-network doula services or whether HSA/FSA funds can help cover out-of-pocket costs. Contact your provider directly to confirm.

What About a Midwife in Henderson?
If you're considering a midwife, you're in good company. More Henderson moms are choosing midwifery care each year. Here's what to know:
Not sure whether you need a doula, a midwife, or both? Our doula vs. midwife guide breaks it down clearly.
- Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs) work in hospitals and birth centers and are covered by Medicaid in all 50 states.
- Midwives vs. OBs: Midwives spend more time with you: longer appointments, more conversation, less rushed. OBs are surgeons trained for complications. Both are valid choices for different situations.
- You can have both: Many Henderson practices pair midwives and OBs so you get midwifery-style care with a doctor backing you up if needed.
- Birth centers: Henderson doesn't currently have a freestanding birth center, but midwifery care at local hospitals is still a great option.
