14 Weeks Pregnant: Practicing first expressions

Baby development

Your baby at 14 weeks

Your baby's facial muscles are developing, and subtle expressions may begin to happen. Even if you can't feel much yet, there is a lot of movement and practice happening inside.

Your body this week

What you might be feeling at 14 weeks

Energy is often returning. Nausea may be gone or nearly gone. You might notice a small bump appearing, your skin clearing up, and feeling more like yourself. Some women still have nausea at this point — it's not unusual.

For a lot of women, this is the week where the energy switch flips. I remember with my third baby, I went from barely functioning to cleaning my entire house in one afternoon — the classic nesting instinct starts early for some of us. Your appetite is probably coming back, and food might actually sound good again. If you're still waiting for that switch, hang on. Everyone's timeline is different, and some of us didn't feel fully human again until 16 or 17 weeks. It's coming.
