Baby development

Your baby at 13 weeks

Your baby is entering a stretch of steady growth now, with features becoming more proportionate over time. This is the season where the body starts catching up just a bit to that adorably oversized head.

What you might be feeling at 13 weeks

Welcome to the second trimester. Nausea may be fading, energy returning, and food might actually sound good again. Your belly button might be changing shape, and your bras might feel tighter as your rib cage expands. Appetite may return with a vengeance.

Welcome to the second trimester. With my first, I remember waking up around 13 weeks and realizing the nausea had dulled to something manageable, and I actually felt like a person again. It doesn't happen overnight for everyone — some of my pregnancies, the sickness hung on well past this point — but when that fog starts lifting, it's like a gift. You might also notice something strange: feeling better can make you anxious. I've watched so many doula clients panic at the absence of symptoms. If the nausea is fading, that's your body doing its job, not a warning sign.
